Examples-The Assumption of Earthquake Magnitude and EPA

Example> The Assumption of Earthquake Magnitude and EPA
- Conditions: Fall of chimneys, factory stacks, columns, monuments, walls, in Vancouver, B.C. These conditions are similar to earthquake intensity VIII in MMI scale and equations from the Western US.
1) Earthquake Magnitude
- Mag = 2/3 MMI(grade) +1.00 = 2/3 x 8 +1.00 = 6.3
---> about Richter Scale 6.3
2) EPA
- Log_10 Acc = 0.33MMI - 0.500 = 0.33 x 8 - 0.5/1000 = 2.14,
Acc = (10^2.14)/1000 = 0.138gal
EPA = Acc/2.5 = 0.055
---> about EPA = 0.055g
